A Caper (Capparis spinosa) is a shrub from the Mediterranean region. It is best known for its edible buds and fruit which are usually pickled or salted.

The pickled or salted caper bud (also called caper) is often used as a seasoning or garnish. Capers are a common ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine.

Capers are often enjoyed in cold smoked salmon or cured salmon dishes, salad, pizza, pasta and sauces. Capers are also sometimes substituted for olives to garnish a martini.

Lacrimelle Capers come from the rugged coastal region in Italy Called Amalfi. The bushes cling precariously to the steep hills and cliffs that this area is famous for.

Lacrimelle Capers are generally the more desirable small size capers.
