Milawa is a highly awarded cheese company located in North
Eastern Victoria, close to the town of Bright at the foot of
the Victorian Alps.

King River Gold is a speciality washed rind cheese developed
by David Brown at Milawa Cheese Company. It is the younger
sister cheese to the famous and very bold Milawa Gold, a
robust and pungent large round in the style of a French
Munster Cheese.

King River Gold  has a soft smooth texture and a more subtle taste than Milawa Gold.
Hand made and gently washed every few days in a special
cultured brine solution that introduces "good" bacteria,
B-Linens, to the surface of the cheese.  This allows the
cheese to ripen from the outside to the centre of the paste,
and in the process adds earthy, complex flavours and a
characteristic aroma.

It's a great introduction to the washed rind style as it has
a delicate fruity washed rind flavour but the aroma and
flavour is not over powering.
